2 million PPE Distribution

As part of efforts to combat the spreadof COVID-19 infections in Ghana, the President of Ghana in accordance with powers granted him under the Imposition of Restrictions Act, 2020 (Act 1012) signed and gazetted a new Executive Instrument (E.I 164) on June 15, 2020.

This executive instrument has made it mandatory for all residents in Ghana to wear face masks at all public places. Arrests over non wearing of face masks has dominated local news headlines following “Operation Wear Your Mask” by the Ghana Police.

While lack of education and limited knowledge about COVID-19 is a contributing factor to the low response to this directive, purchasing of medically approved PPE comes as a significant financial constraint to many lower income families across the country.

More so, lack of adequate PPEs for frontline health workers is a cause of great concern. Continuously, there are widespread complaints from medical and health workers about the unavailability of PPEs, which is causing fear and uncertainty.

In response to these challenges obstructing Ghana’s efforts to combat the disease, the Young Diplomats of Ghana (YDG) seeks to distribute to 5 million PPEs (face masks)to the good of people of Ghana to add up to efforts by the government to combat COVID-19.

Our primary target and beneficiaries include market women and traders in all markets across the country, head potters in central business districts, drivers and conductors in registered lorry parks and car stations in addition to frontline workers, nursing homes, first responders, local clinics, and hospitals in deprived communities across the country.

In addition, we aim at donating 5 million alcohol-based hand sanitizers to local clinics and hospitals across the country as well as individual beneficiaries of our PPEs donation drive.

We invite you to support this project with a generous donation to help curb and combat the spread of COVID-19 in Ghana.
